{"id":881004,"date":"2020-03-21T20:19:26","date_gmt":"2020-03-21T15:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pakistanstandard.com\/?p=881004"},"modified":"2022-08-31T14:39:27","modified_gmt":"2022-08-31T09:39:27","slug":"pakistan-suspends-all-international-flights-for-two-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pakistanstandard.com\/pakistan-suspends-all-international-flights-for-two-weeks\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan Suspends All International Flights For Two Weeks"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_13002\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13002\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13002\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pakistanstandard.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/planes-exit-pak.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pakistanstandard.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/planes-exit-pak.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.pakistanstandard.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/planes-exit-pak-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-13002\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Farooq Naeem\u2014AFP<\/p><\/div>\n<h6>Once international flights resume, passengers will not be required to produce COVID-19 tests prior to entry<\/h6>\n<p>Pakistan\u2019s Civil Aviation Authority on Saturday announced the country was suspending all incoming international flights for two weeks, effective from March 21 (today) till April 4.<\/p>\n<p>In a NOTAM issued by the authority, it informed airmen that \u201call international passenger, chartered and private aircraft inbound flights to Pakistan\u201d had been suspended. \u201cThis is a temporary suspension imposed due to exceptional circumstances,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The CAA\u2019s NOTAM said that the only exception to the inbound flight ban would be \u201cdiplomatic, special\/cargo flights\u201d but these would be subjected to health screenings upon their arrival to Pakistan. \u201cThey can also be subjected to isolation\/quarantine as per advice of the health professionals,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The CAA said that once international flights resumed in Pakistan, the government would not require incoming passengers to provide tests proving they were negative for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan International Airlines also announced that it was cancelling all international flights for one week. \u201cPIA is cancelling all its international flights in accordance with the directives of Government of Pakistan effective from 8 PM March 21, 2020 till March 28, 2020,\u201d it said in a posting on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the CAA had issued a notification stating that all international travelers coming to Pakistan would be required to provide medical results proving they were not infected with the novel coronavirus. The move was met with criticism because of a shortage of testing kits in most countries globally.<\/p>\n<p>Islamabad\u2019s decision to suspend international flights comes as Pakistan\u2019s total confirmed cases of COVID-19 hit 666, with three deaths.
